A scene that I usually don't associate myself with because of my inclination towards heavier music, sometimes there is some alternative rock/pop rock (whatever you want to call it) that catches my eyes and ears from time to time. Veridian are very much that band.

The collective from Reading utilise emotional guitar leads with a wash of rhythmic sustain in their latest single 'Curtains'. Lyrically and melodically impressive, the quintet introduce elements of electronic synths to develop ballads similar to the power of Normandie and Led By Lanterns. Layered with pounding percussion it seems to explore its ability to explode in the live format amongst the sweetened addition of vocal harmonics, the consistency of vocal delivery only enforces the catchiness of the vocal hooks that run throughout. All of these elements emphasise the final bridge and chorus of the track alongside a surprise stringed arrangement. Questioning whether or not they could perform this track with such tenacity live is out of the question. It's sister track 'Lie' follows a similar format leading the future project in a professional and exciting development of a songwriting structure that usually would bore you to death. Veridian may be small, however their sound is just as huge and atmospheric as their ambition.
