Slowly growing for the past couple of years with high quality production, visceral light shows and a heap of charisma the South Wales group are set to release their debut album later this year - PRIMROSE PATH. Out on October 18th, the previous two singles ahead of this project have been going down well with fans as they slide towards a slightly more pop direction with electronic elements. 'Open Windows' however, leaps back into their power punch of influences and history with a chorus of crowd screaming lyricism.

Much heavier in comparison to their previous releases, the track still carries the all important signature sound of Dream State within the impressive vocal range of CJ and the fingerstyle guitar melody that consistently runs throughout. After a few listens it becomes clear that this is much more of a statement about where they wish to place themselves in future touring cycles and projects. "Listen" becomes a recurring lyric encouraging the emotive delivery of choruses that have impressive ad-libs of Jason Butler-esque style screams overlaying the strength of her cleans. This annunciated attitude not only sonically adds to the track but sets them apart from the consistent and perfected melody that genres such as pop-punk are currently embracing and saturating (dare I say at an alarming rate). Playing into the hands of the heavier and far more powerful verses that utilise a call and response with a Parkway Drive "HEY" to bring the fluidity and structure of the song smoothly round to the chorus again. This ease of transition and catchy bounce of percussion keeps up the tempo even during the softer bridge to deliver us back to a chaotic finale of vocal effects, harmonies and the ever surprising distorted guitar ring out. What Dream State seem to have achieved is the ability to experiment. Producing different influences and elements in the other singles has, in a way, allowed them to venture towards this heavier domain. Especially with a support slot secured on Being As An Ocean's November tour. The group provide energy, creative vision and the ability to put on a damn good live show. This in turn provides me with hope that their full debut will be the stepping stone they have deserved into the beady eyes of a growing community. 'Open Windows' is the breath of fresh air in what I presume to be a very stagnant genre market at present.
